I just wanted to say hi to all. I've been lurking around the past few weeks and have decided that maybe it was time to start posting.

A little about me...I live in the bustling metropolis of Manchester, NH. I just finished building my first guitar.    A freshman effort to be sure, but I've certainly been bitten by the building bug! I plan to build many more. Besides what else am I going to use these nut files and fret files for?

I've been impressed with the sharing on this forum and hope to absorb all the knowledge I can from some of you more experienced luthiers.

Welcome Joe! I'm sure you'll be contributing in no time! We all learn something from each other whether you are a newbie or experienced. I've only built 2 guitars, but feel like I've built 20 because I did them in a very short time of each other. Don't wait too long before your next build or else you'll forget all the mistakes you made on the first one, and do them all over again on the second. Please join in the posting!

Hi Joe,
This is definitely the best place to be. Tell us a little about your first. I'm about finished with my first two. It's been over a year since I started, and I've found that the biggest challenge to my time is building all of the jigs and tools to get the job done.

Hey Joe! Where you goin' with that gun in your hand? (Sorry, couldn't resist!) Say, you may as well take out a home equity loan and have the check made out to Bob C...! You'll want to bookmark his site, and odds are you'll never buy a splinter of wood from anywhere else! Everyone else here on the forum is pretty awesome too...I'm glad they'll let a lightweight like me even come around! Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the wonderful world of lutherie! The OLF is a great place to get answers to your questions and you get a lot of answers to questions you didn't know you had too.

So, you are in Manchester. There are several luthiers a short distance away from you. I live in Amherst, NH.

There is a luthier's organisation in the area called New England Luthiers NELMike Mahar38450.6409837963
